WILL CAPPER
General Manager
With more than 30 years’ experience in agriculture and vineyard operations, Will brings extensive practical knowledge of viticulture and premium grape production in the Hunter Valley.
Gunnedah born, Will’s passion for agriculture and grape growing led him to Cessnock in 1997, where he commenced his viticulture traineeship under Ken Bray. He later worked at Tyrrell’s before joining HVVM in 2006.
Now General Manager, Will oversees HVVM’s vineyard operations across the Hunter Valley, working with a committed team to manage a diverse portfolio of premium vineyards for both leading wine companies and boutique estates.
Will’s dedication and leadership have contributed to the ongoing growth and success of HVVM. His efforts have been recognised with nominations for the Hunter Valley Legends Awards for Viticulturist of the Year in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2019, and Rising Star in 2013. In 2026, Will was again recognised as a finalist for Viticulturist of the Year. He was also a finalist for the Horticultural Grower of the Year Award in 2015, part of the Australian Farmer of the Year Awards.

Gary has 40 years’ industry experience and is familiar with all aspects of vineyard operations, specialising in machine harvesting and machinery operation.
Shayne Hudson
Vineyard Operator
Shayne has 15 years’ experience in vineyard operations and specialises in weed control, bringing extensive practical knowledge to day-to-day vineyard management.
James Vickery
Vineyard Operator
James has 15 years’ experience with HVVM and specialises in vineyard machinery, with strong mechanical knowledge and a practical understanding of how equipment operates and performs in the vineyard.
